Outdoor Décor: Get Festive for Fall

Just because we don’t experience any dramatic climate changes in Florida upon the arrival of fall does not mean we can’t make it feel like the season with some festive flare and outdoor décor.

Door Décor – The door of your home is one of the first things that neighbors and guests will see, which means it should be attractive and inviting. Whether you enlist The Handyman Company’s help to install a brand new door, or add a fresh coat of paint and some shiny new hardware, don’t let your door go bare. Hanging a bountiful wreath on your front door is a simple way to create a welcoming doorstep. You can purchase a pre-made fall wreath, or craft it yourself.

Pumpkin Patch – During the fall season, pumpkins are everywhere – real ones, fake ones, big ones, small ones, ornate ones, and painted ones. Incorporating pumpkins of your choice into the outdoor area of your home has endless possibilities. If you opt for real pumpkins, make sure you maintain them and don’t let them rot, which could end up damaging your front porch.

Go Green – Adding extra greenery or foliage outside your home can be done with real or fake materials based on your preference. Topiaries, garlands, gourds, and multi-colored leaves are ideal for fall decorating. The added benefit to using these items to make your home look warm and festive is that they are environmentally friendly.

Spooktacular – If you have little ones in your home, or just want to please the neighborhood children, have some fun with Halloween decorations. Keep in mind that not all Halloween flare has to be scary. The “spooky” look you create can be cute, rustic, ornate, or glamorous.

Get Thrifty – If it’s been awhile since you’ve spruced up the outdoor area in front of your home, consider adding some functional, but still attractive, pieces. Thrift stores can provide you with a cheap bench, chairs, a wheel barrel, buckets, etc., which can then be crafted into lovely outdoor decorations.
